Todt verkoopt aandelen in Formule 2-team ART Grand Prix

Het nieuwe Formule 2-team van Nyck de Vries krijgt een nieuwe eigenaar. Nicolas Todt doet zijn aandelen in ART Grand Prix van de hand, waardoor Fred Vasseur aanblijft als enige aandeelhouder en eigenaar.

Vasseur en Todt begonnen eind 2004 aan hun avontuur met ART Grand Prix, dat in 2005 ging deelnemen in de nieuwe GP2. Het team leverde meerdere kampioenen af met Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hülkenberg en Stoffel Vandoorne. Afgelopen seizoen leverde het met George Russell nog de kampioen af in de Formule 2, maar desondanks vertrekt Todt bij het team.

Todt en Vasseur zouden al een tijd niet meer met elkaar door een deur kunnen en vermoedt wordt dat dit dan ook de reden is dat de zoon van Jean Todt ermee stopt. Vasseur, die ook teambaas van Sauber is, heeft desondanks lovende woorden over voor Todt. “Zonder Nicolas was de ontwikkeling niet mogelijk geweest en stond hij aan het roer toen ART vrijwel alle gezette doelen behaalde. Ik ben hem ontzettend dankbare voor de overvloed aan goede resultaten waar hij voor heeft gezorgd en ik wens hem enkel het allerbeste toe.”
