Broertje Leclerc krijgt kans bij Venturi tijdens test in Marrakech

De rookietest van de Formule E in Marrakech begint langzaamaan een beetje vorm te krijgen. Venturi had al een plaatje ingeruimd voor voormalig Formule 2-coureur Norman Nato, die tevens de reserve van het team is. Het tweede plekje gaat naar Arthur Leclerc, het jongere broertje van Ferrari-coureur Charles.

Leclerc is onderdeel van het opleidingsprogramma van Venturi en hij nam in 2018 al eens plaats achter het stuur van de tweede generatie Formule E-auto's. Ook reed hij al even met een Formule E-auto van de eerste generatie. Leclerc debuteerde in 2018 in de autosport in het Franse Formule 4-kampioenschap. Daarin werd hij vijfde, met twee zeges en een pole position.

"Het is een eer om door Venturi geselecteerd te worden en als Monegask is dat nog specialer. Ik geef mezelf helemaal over aan het team in hun zoektocht naar het optimaliseren van de Venturi VFE-05 en ik ben dankbaar dat ik opnieuw in deze buitengewone bolide mag plaatsnemen", vertelde Leclerc over de kans die hij krijgt.

Ook HWA heeft bekendgemaakt wie er gaan testen in Marrakech. Test- en ontwikkelingscoureur Daniel Juncadella zal in de ene bolide plaatsnemen, terwijl Raffaele Marciello de andere bolide bestuurt. Voor Marciello wordt het zijn eerste rit in een Formule E-bolide.
