Silly-Season breekt los: Mitch Evans blijft bij Jaguar, Bird vertrekt

Jaguar TCS Racing heeft aangekondigd dat Mitch Evans blijf bij het Britse team te racen. De Nieuw-Zeelander heeft een meerjarige contractverlenging getekend Daarmee wordt het de langstlopende relatie tussen een coureur en een team in de FE.

Evans maakte zijn debuut bij Jaguar Racing in 2016 en is sindsdien algemeen aanvaard als een van de snelste en meest getalenteerde coureurs op de grid.

In 2019 behaalde hij een eerste overwinning voor het team in Rome. Samen hebben Evans en het team 10 overwinningen, 25 podia, zes pole en 73 kampioenschapspunten gescoord in de afgelopen zeven jaar.

"Omdat we sinds 2016 bij Jaguar TCS Racing werken, was het de logische keuze om onze succesvolle samenwerking voort te zetten", zegt de 29-jarige. "We hebben de afgelopen zeven jaar een aantal ongelooflijke momenten beleefd en ik kijk ernaar uit om samen ons volgende hoofdstuk schrijven. Ik ben er trots op om voor Jaguar te racen."

Sam Bird verlaat het team. Nick Cassidy vervangt hem.

Silly Season - Stand van zaken

De meeste teams hebben hun line-up voor 2024 nog niet openbaar gemaakt, al zullen sommige zitjes op voorhand misschien geen verrassing zijn.

Wel is bekend dat Robin Frijns stopt bij ABT Cupra. De Nederlander is in 2024 sowieso te zien in het World Endurance Championship voor BMW.

Wereldkampioen Jake Dennis gaat zijn titel verdedigen bij zijn huidige team Avalanche Andretti.

Voormalig kampioen Sebastian Buemi blijft bij Envision Racing.

De meeste plekken zijn toch wel erg zeker. Abt zoekt allerlei manieren om van hun Mahindra aandrijving af te komen.

Zo stellig als dat the.ra.ce kon stellen dat de vries wel even een plekkie heeft... zo stellig lijken de teambazen geen trek in hem te hebben.

Lotterer en Rast gaan zich focussen op endurance. De kleine onzekerheid voor Frijns licht ik zijn BMW contract en of een clash weekend tussen WEC en FE wordt verholpen. Drugovich schijnt nog Williams als optie te hebben... Rowland is een wat rare... vetrok bij nissan om meer centen en Nato deed eigenlijk even goed dan al niet beter dan hem... het team nissan schijnt nato te willen houden, maar t contract met rowland was kennelijk te vroeg getekend.
Bird... de engelse pers juichen hem toe naar mclaren... maar ik zou niet weten waarom je hem zou kiezen boven een wat jongere coureur. Huges is inmiddels de ervaren kracht die Mclaren wou.

En dan nog die geheime coureur uit Zwitserland dat twi.tter deed denken dat dit om vettel zou gaan... dat lijkt me niet. Vettel heeft veel kritiek geuit op FE ter promotie van zijn bio fuel partner in klassieke autos. Daarnaast is Abt dus officieel verbonden aan de slechtste aandrijving mahindra... zoekt wel een uitweg naar porsche... maar dat wordt lastig.
