Grosjean wint eerste twee races in Asia Series

Romain Grosjean heeft het allereerste weekend in de Asia Series van de GP2 gedomineerd. De Fransman, die naast racecoureur bij ART Grand Prix ook testrijder is bij het Formule 1-team van Renault, won beide races op het circuit van Dubai.

In race 1 startte Grosjean op pole, reed bij de start weg en de concurrentie zag hem pas weer op het podium. De regerend Formule 3 Euroseries-kampioen had aan de finish twaalf seconden voorsprong op de nummer twee, Bruno Senna. In race 2 had Grosjean het vanwege de omgedraaide startopstelling van de eerste acht iets moeilijker, maar hij liet zien ook het inhalen te beheersen.

Voor de Nederlandse inbreng was het geen succesvol weekend. Ho-Pin Tung eindigde twee maal buiten de punten. Trust Team Arden had met Sebastien Buemi wel een man in de punten bij race 1, maar de Zwitser werd gediskwalificeerd vanwege een illegaal onderdeel aan zijn auto. Teamgenoot Adam Khan reed mee in de achterhoede.
