Buurman maakt indruk tijdens eerste raceweekend

Yelmer Buurman heeft zich tijdens zijn eerste GP2-races van zijn beste kant laten zien. De Trust Team Arden-coureur scoorde in zijn debuutweekend meteen vijf punten. Buurman eindigde in race 1 op het circuit van Sepang als zesde en kwam in race 2 als vijfde over de finish. Teamgenoot Sebastien Buemi pakte geen punten in Maleisië.

Voor Ho-Pin Tung verliep het weekend een stuk minder succesvol. De voor Trident Racing uitkomende Nederlandse Chinees viel uit in de eerste race en finishte de tweede race als zestiende. De snelheid zat er op zondag niet in om echt competitief te kunnen zijn. Op de droge baan was de auto gewoon niet snel genoeg, vertelt Tung op zijn website.

Het weekend in Maleisië kende twee nieuwe winnaars. Vitaly Petrov won op zaterdag in de regen voor het eerst in de Asia Series en een dag later was die eer voor Toyota-testcoureur Kamui Kobayashi. Romain Grosjean blijft de leider in het kampioenschap.

Toch mooi om te zien dat Grosjean na zijn goede F3-seizoen bij de GP2 Asia Series meteen weer bovenaan de stand te vinden is. En dat terwijl hij maar in 1 van de 2 races op het podium stond. Maarre.. Fauzy, wat doet die daar? Heeft ie toch talent?
