Straf kost Grosjean zege in eerste race

Romain Grosjean is zijn zege in de GP2-race van zaterdagmiddag kwijtgeraakt door een incident met een achterblijver. De Fransman haalde Marko Asmer in in het stadiongedeelte, toen daar gele vlaggen werden gezwaaid omdat een aantal auto's van de baan waren gevlogen tijdens een regenbui. Grosjean verdedigde zich door te melden dat er al vijf blauwe vlaggen waren gezwaaid voor Asmer, maar de stewards vonden het feit toch serieus genoeg om hem 25 seconden tijdstraf te geven. Grosjean viel daarmee terug van de eerste naar de tweede plek. De overwinning gaat nu naar Giorgio Pantano, die het kampioenschap nu leidt met 19 punten op Bruno Senna.

Vitaly Petrov, Mike Conway en Jerome d'Ambrosio zijn ook bestraft voor het niet voldoende respecteren van de gele vlaggen. Zij zijn alledrie teruggezet op de startopstelling voor de tweede race.
