Charles Pic heeft zijn eerste overwinning in de GP2 Main Series gescoord. De Fransman profiteerde van fouten en crashes van coureurs voor hem en was op de finish Giacomo Ricci te snel af. Giedo van der Garde kende een race om snel te vergeten.

Jules Bianchi startte zijn eerste GP2-race vanaf de pole position, maar kende een slechte start. De Fransman werd meteen gepasseerd door Sam Bird en Christian Vietoris, maar in de eerste bocht ging het al mis. Bird en Vietoris raakten elkaar en voor Vietoris zat de race er al op. Ook Bianchi werd geraakt en kon ook al meteen uitstappen. Sam Bird moest voor reparaties naar de pits en zo kreeg Sergio Perez, de teamgenoot van Giedo van der Garde de leiding in handen.

Van der Garde startte overigens erg goed aan de race, nadat hij voor de eerste race nog drie strafplaatsen aan zijn broek kreeg vanwege een incident in de kwalificatie. Zijn start bleek echter vals te zijn, waardoor hij een drive trough-penalty kreeg. Even daarvoor was de Nederlander al bestraft omdat hij de pits te laat had verlaten bij het oplijnen op de grid.

Perez reed dus aan kop, maar bij de pitstops ging het ook voor hem mis. Een monteur kreeg het rechter achterwiel er niet snel op, waardoor hij tijd verloor. Charles Pic kreeg zo de leiding in handen, voor Giacomo Ricci en Dani Clos. Perez viel terug naar de vierde plaats en zo zou de top vier ook op de finish zijn. Ho-Pin Tung eindigde als dertiende, Van der Garde door al zijn problemen achteraan.
