Romain Grosjean vervangt D'Ambrosio bij DAMS in Duitsland

Romain Grosjean zal komend weekend een verrassende comeback maken naar de GP2 Series. De Fransman zal bij het team van DAMS de Belg Jerome D'Ambrosio vervangen en op zoek gaan naar meer snelheid voor het team.

Vooralsnog valt het seizoen voor Jerome D'Ambrosio en Ho-Pin Tung bij DAMS tegen. Alhoewel de Belg de sprintrace in Monaco op zijn naam wist te schrijven, vallen de overige resultaten tegen. Daardoor heeft het team besloten om ex-Renault-coureur Grosjean in te zetten op de Hockenheimring op zoek naar meer snelheid in de bolide.

"Doordat testen dit seizoen vrijwel verboden is, heeft het Gravity Sports Management dit besluit genomen om te bekijken waarom D'Ambrosio en DAMS niet hun volledige potentieel kunnen benutten", stond in een verklaring van het Gravity Sports Management, wat onder leiding staat van de teambaas bij Renault, Eric Boullier.

Grosjean vertelde over zijn terugkeer op de GP2-grid: "Ik ben erg blij dat ik weer terug kan keren naar de GP2 Series. Het is een erg hoogstaand kampioenschap waarin ik vorig jaar, totdat ik gevraagd werd om Formule 1 te rijden, kon strijden om de titel", aldus de Fransman.

D'Ambrosio zal tijdens het volgende weekend, in Hongarije, echter weer zelf racen. "Ik kan niet wachten om het circuit op te gaan en het best mogelijke resultaat te scoren. Het hoofddoel is echter om de problemen van dit seizoen bij DAMS op te lossen, want het gebrek aan prestaties doet de motivatie van Jerome en Ho-Pin geen goed. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat we de problemen kunnen overwinnen", sloot Grosjean af, die vorig seizoen nog enkele races in de Formule 1 reed als vervanger van Nelsinho Piquet bij Renault.

Dat die van dams dan dien hollander laat vervangen. D\'ambrosio heeft meer pubte dan die chinees, de 3-de rijder van renault

  Ja tuurlijk jonge, daarom word ie ook vervangen... en is HIJ geen 3e rijder van Renault... Omdat ie zoveel beter is. Houd toch op over die Jerome...

  Tung vind ik niet goed, maar D\'ambrosio maakt ook niet echt indruk. Lood om oud ijzer vrees ik.

@bengelke,
op zich ben ik het wel met jouw eens, Tung presteert gewoon duidelijk minder goed dan D\'Ambrosio, kunnen we niet omheen draaien.
Ik denk echter dat Tung, en daarom is hij ook derde rijder van Renault, meer betaald en meer geld heeft vanuit China.

Precies. Tung zit er vanwege sponsorbelangen, D\'Ambrosio is een niet-betalend talentje. Daarom kunnen ze hem probleemloos een keer vervangen. Tung valt me trouwens ook behoorlijk tegen, had hem toch hoger zitten dan zijn resultaten nu aangeven.
