Uitsluiting Niederhauser schenkt Yelloly de winst

Nick Yelloly heeft de laatste race van het GP3-seizoen 2014 op zijn naam geschreven. De Brit kwam in Abu Dhabi als tweede over de meet, maar na de technische keuring is winnaar Patric Niederhauser uit de uitslag geschrapt. Dat schonk Yelloly de overwinning.

De achtervleugel van Niederhauser bleek niet aan de reglementen te voldoen. De stewards waren onverbiddelijk en diskwalificeerden de Zwitser. Daardoor schoof iedereen een plaatsje op en zo belandde Emil Bernstorff toch nog op een podiumplek.

De eerste race op zaterdag was ten prooi gevallen aan Dean Stoneman. De Brit eiste de tweede plek in de eindstand voor zich op. De kampioen was op vrijdag al bekend. Alex Lynn was zeker van zijn titel toen Stoneman zich niet naar pole position trainde.
