DAMS en Virtuosi Racing nieuw in de GP3

De organisatie van de GP3 Series heeft de teams voor de periode 2016 tot en met 2018 bekend gemaakt. Onder de acht renstallen twee nieuwe namen. DAMS, bekend uit de GP2 en de World Series by Renault, en Virtuosi Racing voegen zich bij ART Grand Prix, Koiranen GP, Arden International, Campos Racing, Jenzer Motorsport en Trident.

GP3-baas Bruno Michel: "Het doet me deugd om de teams te onthullen die een startbewijs ontvangen voor 2016, 2017 en 2018. De GP3 is de afgelopen jaren uitgegroeid tot een van de belangrijkste opstapklasses. Van onze vijf kampioenen hebben Esteban Gutierrez, Valtteri Bottas en Daniil Kvyat het tot de Formule 1 geschopt, terwijl Mitch Evans en Alex Lynn in de GP2 actief zijn."

"We hebben ervoor gekozen om met het merendeel van de huidige teams door te gaan, maar we wilden ook vers bloed introduceren. Daarom verwelkomen we DAMS en Virtuosi Racing, die in andere series al zeer succesvol zijn geweest. Vijf van de geselecteerde renstallen staan tevens op de GP2-grid, wat voor een natuurlijke doorstroming zorgt."
