De Vries start als derde, Leclerc van pole

Nyck de Vries heeft zich van zijn sterkste kant laten zien in de kwalificatie voor de GP3-races op de Red Bull Ring. Het talent van McLaren zal de race van vanmiddag vanaf de derde plek starten. Charles Leclerc, de leider in het kampioenschap, zal de race van pole aanvangen.

Leclerc zal later dit jaar zijn debuut maken tijdens een Formule 1-weekend, waar de Monegask een aantal trainingen mag rijden voor het Haas Formule -team. De eerste keer zal volgende week tijdens de ochtendtraining op het circuit van Silverstone ziijn. Leclerc liet in de kwalificatie zien waarom hij de kans in de Formule 1 verdiend. Achter Leclerc starten teamgenoten Alexander Albon en onze landgenoot De Vries als derde.

De andere Nederlander in het veld, Steijn Schothorst, start verder naar achteren en zal de race als achttiende aanvangen. De hoofdrace start vanmiddag om 17:10 uur, de sprintrace is morgen om 09:15 uur.
