Adrian Quaife-Hobbs behaalt eerste pole position

Adrian Quaife-Hobbs heeft vanochtend zijn eerste pole position in de GP3 Series behaald. De Britse coureur was op zijn thuiscircuit zo'n drie tienden sneller dan ART's James Calado. Calado had een gridpenalty gekregen voor een overtreding in de trainingen, maar deze is door de stewards teruggedraaid.

Tijdens de kwalificatie voor de GP3 Series bleef het droog. Op het nieuwe Pirelli-rubber werden veel snelle tijden gereden en daarmee verloor Lewis Williamson zijn koppositie. Adrian Quaife-Hobbs ging zijn landgenoot voorbij. Eerder was Williamson nog zes tienden sneller, maar zag dit voordeel met nieuwe banden al snel verdampen.

James Calado ging ook nog voorbij aan Williamson en voorkwam daarmee een volledig Britse eerste startrij. Kampioenschapsleider Mitch Evans start de eerste race als vierde, gevolgd door Alexander Sims, Nico Muller, Valtteri Bottas en Rio Haryanto. Nigel Melker kwalificeerde zich weliswaar als achtste, maar start de race als achttiende vanwege zijn gridpenalty.
