Rahal en Newgarden teruggezet op startopstelling

Graham Rahal en Josef Newgarden kwalificeerden zich gisteren keurig in de top vijf voor de IndyCar-race op het normale circuit van Indianapolis. Na de kwalificatie kregen beide heren echter te horen dat ze achteraan zullen moeten beginnen vanwege een te lichte auto.

Rahal zou de race als derde aanvangen, maar begint nu als 24e aan de race. Newgarden zal helemaal achteraan beginnen. De reglementen schrijven voor dat een IndyCar-auto minimaal 730 kilogram moet wegen. Dit gewicht is inclusief camera, vloeistoffen en koeling en dummy-camera's. Door de straf schuiven top coureurs als Kanaan, Montoya en Dixon een paar plekken op naar voren. Simon Pagenaud start de race vanavond vanaf pole position.
