Firestone 600 stilgelegd door onweer op Texas Motor Speedway

De wedstrijd van de Indycar Series op Texas Motor Speedway is na 71 ronden stilgelegd. De reden voor de onderbreking zijn de zware onweersbuien die op dit moment over de oval heen trekken.

James Hinchcliffe lag aan de leiding op het moment van de stillegging. De coureur van Schmidt Peterson Motorsport werd achtervolgd door Ryan Hunter-Reay en teamgenoot Mikhail Aleshin. Eerder in de race werd het publiek al opgeschrikt door een zware crash van Conor Daly en Josef Newgarden. Daly spinde en nam in zijn spin Newgarden mee, die vervolgens op zijn zijkant een eind doorschoof. Newgarden moest mee naar een ziekenhuis in Fort Worth met pijn in zijn schouder en pols.

Of en wanneer de race hervat wordt, is nog niet bekend.
