Firestone 600 uitgesteld tot 27 augustus

De Firestone 600 op de Texas Motor Speedway is gisteren na 71 ronden stilgelegd wegens regen en daarna niet meer hervat. Aangezien de IndyCar-organisatie een uitslag pas officieel opneemt in de boeken wanneer de helft van het geplande aantal ronden verreden is, moeten de teams en coureurs over twee maanden terugkeren om de wedstrijd af te maken.

De race ging namelijk over 248 ronden. De Firestone 600 is nu uitgesteld tot 27 augustus en dan is het een avondrace. Jay Frye van de IndyCar-organisatie: "We keren zeker terug om de fans een volwaardige race voor te schotelen. De Texas Motor Speedway heeft puik werk geleverd, dus we komen terug om de wedstrijd te hervatten vanaf het punt waarop we gestopt zijn. Dit was een unieke situatie, overmacht. Dit soort weersomstandigheden zijn hier in tijden niet voorgekomen, maar er gebeuren wel vaker unieke dingen en we kijken ernaar uit om op 27 augustus terug te keren in Texas."
