Hildebrand vervanger van Newgarden

JR Hildebrand neemt voorlopig de honneurs voor Josef Newgarden waar bij Ed Carpenter Racing. Newgarden liep bij een crash in de Firestone 600 op de Texas Motor Speedway een gebroken sleutelbeen en een breukje in zijn hand op. Hoe lang hij niet kan racen is nog niet bekend.

Ed Carpenter Racing heeft Hildebrand in elk geval aangetrokken als vervanger. De 28-jarige Amerikaan test morgen al voor het team op Road America aan de zijde van Spencer Pigot. Hildebrand veroverde in 2009 de Indy Lights-titel en finishte dit jaar nog als zesde in de Indy 500.
