Newgarden krijgt groen licht van medici om te racen op Road America

Twee weken geleden maakten Josef Newgarden en Conor Daly een verschrikkelijke crash mee om de snelle oval van de Texas Motor Speedway. Ed Carpenter Racing riep JR Hildebrand om Newgarden te vervangen, maar de Amerikaan herstelde zo snel dat Carpenter besloot hem in de vrije training toch te laten rijden.

Newgarden werd na de twee vrije trainingen opnieuw gekeurd door de medici en heeft groen licht gekregen om ook de rest van het weekend in actie te komen. Op de openingsdag op Road America kwam Newgarden tot een tiende en dertiende tijd.
