Road America ook in 2017 op het schema

Road America verwelkomde dit weekend de IndyCar Series. Het 6,5 kilometer lange circuit was in 2007 voor het laatst gastheer van een ChampCar-race. De terugkeer naar Road America was een groot succes, stelt circuitbaas George Bruggenthies. Hij bevestigde en passant dat de baan ook in 2017 op de IndyCar-kalender zal staan.

Bruggenthies: "Het is nog even afwachten op de definitieve cijfers, maar ik heb wat mensen van de directie gesproken en zij zeiden dat dit waarschijnlijk het grootste event ooit georganiseerd is op Road America. De fans zaten hier al lang op te wachten en wij hebben er de afgelopen jaren al veelvuldig over gesproken met Mark Miles [CEO van IndyCar-eigenaar Hulman & Company]. Het voornaamste struikelblok was de datum waarop de race georganiseerd moest worden, maar dat hebben we vorig jaar juli rond gekregen en hier staan we nu. Het was echt een geweldig evenement."

"We hebben hier een geweldig weekend gehad, en kijken er nu al naar uit om volgend jaar terug te keren", voegde Jay Frye namens de IndyCar Series toe. "De steun van de fans en de gastvrijheid waren fenomenaal. Ik kan George Bruggenthies en al het personeel dan ook niet genoeg bedanken voor dit speciale evenement. We kunnen niet wachten om volgend jaar terug te keren en het allemaal weer opnieuw te doen."
