Luca Filippi terug bij Dale Coyne voor Toronto

Luca Filippi keert terug in de IndyCar Series tijdens de stratenrace in Toronto. Hij gaat plaatsnemen in de wagen met nummer 19 van Dale Coyne Racing.

Filippi reed de eerste vier races van dit seizoen al voor hetzelfde team, maar werd voorafgaand aan de races op Indianapolis aan de kant geschoven. Gabby Chaves nam zijn plaats in en kwam in die races niet verder dan een twaalfde plaats als beste resultaat. Filippi, die ook lange tijd in de GP2 reed, heeft in de afgelopen jaren goed gepresteerd op het stratencircuit van Toronto. In 2014 kwalificeerde hij zich in de top 6, vorig jaar eindigde hij de race zelfs als tweede.

"Ik ben erg blij om weer terug te zijn bij Dale Coyne voor dit weekend en met de kans om in Toronto te rijden. Het is een van mijn favoriete races, niet alleen omdat ik vorig jaar op het podium eindigde, maar ook omdat ik van het racen op stratencircuits hou. Ik kan niet wachten om de baan op te gaan", liet de Italiaan weten als reactie op zijn terugkeer. Voorlopig zal Filippi alleen in Toronto het stuur van de Dale Coyne-machine in handen hebben; voor de rest van het seizoen moet het team nog een rijder aankondigen.
