Rosenqvist mag Ganassi-IndyCar aan de tand voelen in Mid-Ohio

Regerend Europees Formule 3-kampioen Felix Rosenqvist krijgt donderdag de kans om een IndyCar te testen op Mid-Ohio. Hij zal plaatsnemen in een wagen van Chip Ganassi Racing.

Afgelopen weekend won de rappe Zweed beide Indy Lights-wedstrijden op het stratencircuit van Toronto en staat, ondanks het missen van twee weekenden, zevende in het kampioenschap. Op donderdag krijgt hij zijn eerste kennismaking met een IndyCar, iets wat ook geldt voor de Nederlander Robin Frijns.

Rosenqvist is blij met de geboden kans. "Het is een ongelooflijke kans! IndyCar is het grootste autosportkampioenschap in Amerika en het is een droom van iedere coureur om zo'n mogelijkheid te krijgen. Ik ben vereerd dat ik dat bij Chip Ganassi mag doen, een topteam in de klasse waarmee ik voor de televisie ben opgegroeid. Ik ga er het beste van maken!"

Mooi, dan kan Frijns laten zien wat hij waard is ten opzichte van o.a. Rosenqvist, die er met goede resultaten en een betere auto naartoe gaat. Tijdens de test zit Frijns na jaren weer in een mooie positie, waar hij door zijn ontbrekende ervaring niks heeft te verliezen en alles heeft te winnen.
