Power krijgt toestemming om te racen

De IndyCar-artsen hebben het licht op groen gezet voor Will Power om weer te racen. De Australiër kwam op Watkins Glen hard in aanraking met de vangrails na een touché met Charlie Kimball. Na de crash vertoonde hij symptomen die op een hersenschudding konden duiden.

Power is nader onderzocht in Miami en hij doorstond de nieuwe controles met vlag en wimpel, dus staat niets hem in de weg om later deze maand in Sonoma aan de start te verschijnen. Dokter Stephen Olvey: "Will maakt het prima. We hebben twee grondige tests verricht om te bepalen of hij dit weekend een hersenschudding heeft opgelopen en hij heeft beide tests zonder problemen doorstaan."

Power is een van de twee overgebleven kandidaten voor de titel in de IndyCar dit jaar. Hij kijkt wel tegen een achterstand van 43 punten ten opzichte van Simon Pagenaud aan.
