Montoya alleen in Indy 500 bij Penske

Juan Pablo Montoya maakt volgend jaar geen deel meer uit van het IndyCar-veld. Althans, niet op vaste basis. De Colombiaan heeft met Team Penske wel een overeenkomst gesloten over deelname aan de Indy 500, de beroemde race op de Indianapolis Motor Speedway die hij al twee keer won.

Team Penske-voorzitter Tim Cindric: "Juan wilde het team niet verlaten, maar hij wilde wel om zich heen kijken wat er nog meer was. Na er uitvoerig over nagedacht te hebben vertelde hij me dat de beste optie was om de Indy 500 te doen voor Team Penske. Dat aanbod lag er nog en daar is hij dus op ingegaan. Het feit dat we met elkaar blijven samenwerken en gaan proberen de Indy 500 te winnen spreekt boekdelen over de relatie tussen het team en Juan."
