Ed Carpenter Racing bevestigt JR Hildebrand

JR Hildebrand rijdt volgend seizoen zijn eerste volledige seizoen in IndyCar. Het team van Ed Carpenter Racing bevestigde de Amerikaan gisteren nadat hij eerder enkel een aantal keren de Indy500 reed voor het team. Hildebrand is de opvolger van Josef Newgarden, die naar het topteam van Penske vertrekt als vervanger van Juan Pablo Montoya.

Hildebrand is vooral bekend vanwege het bijna winnen van de Indy500 in 2011. Hildebrand crashte in de laatste bocht waardoor wijlen Dan Wheldon de race won. Hildebrand werd nog wel tweede. Hildebrand heeft ook nog getest in Formule 1 bij Force India. Hildebrand maakte een sterke indruk, maar het team koos uiteindelijk toch voor Paul di Resta.
