Marco Andretti snelste eerste dag Barber Motorsports Park

Marco Andretti heeft de eerste dag op Barber Motorsports Park als snelste afgesloten. De coureur reed een 1:07:713 en was daarmee drie honderdsten sneller dan Penske-coureur Will Power. De sessie ging een uur later van start omdat een van de bandenstapels beschadigd raakte de eerste vrije training.

Penske wist de goede vorm van de eerste training voort te zetten in de tweede training. Achter Will Power eindigden de andere Penske-coureurs Simon Pagenaud en Helio Castroneves achter derde en vierde. In de vierde Penske-bolide eindigde Josef Newgarden als achtste. Scott Dixon was de snelste Ganassi-coureur met een vijfde tijd, Charlie Kimball eindigde als zesde.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports-coureur Mikhail Aleshin kende veel problemen in de eerste sessie, maar wist de verloren tijd in de tweede sessie goed te maken. De Rus reed een zevende tijd. Sebastien Bourdais, de verrassende leider in het kampioenschap, eindigde de sessie als negende gevolgd door Ryan Hunter-Reay op een tiende plaats.

Vanavond om 19:00 uur Nederlandse tijd wordt de laatste vrije training verreden, gevolgd door de kwalificatie om 22:15 uur. Alle actie is live te volgen via het officiële YouTube-kanaal van IndyCar.
