Andretti Autosport ook in 2018 met Honda

Het team van Andretti Autosport heeft officieel naar buiten gebracht dat het contract met motorleverancier Honda verlengd is. De Amerikaanse renstal heeft een meerjarige overeenkomst met de Japanse autofabrikant gesloten. Doordat Takuma Sato op het punt staat te vertrekken naar Rahal/Letterman/Lanigan Racing werd aangenomen dat Andretti Autosport over zou kunnen stappen naar Chevrolet, maar niets blijkt minder waar.

Michael Andretti: "Het is geen geheim dat we een tijd nagedacht hebben over welke kant we op moesten. We hebben sterke relaties gehad en mijlpalen bereikt met beide motorleveranciers, dus het was een lastige beslissing. Uiteindelijk is de keuze gevallen op Honda en ik ben blij dat we onze samenwerking voort zullen zetten. We hebben een geweldige erelijst samen en twijfel er niet aan dat onze prijzenkasten de komende jaren verder zullen groeien."

      @ Damon Hill, bedoelde je mij? Want ik volg het wel. Ze zijn inderdaad heel snel, maar die van Hunter-Reay en Alonso zijn wel kapot gegaan

      @RodyF1 dat wss bewust om meer power te krijgen ten koste van de betrouwbaarheid. Dat probleem hebben ze intussen ook opgelost.

    Als Alonso volgend jaar Indy gaat rijden moet ie zeker aan dit team denken om voor te gaan rijden.
    Daar zijn de Honda motoren wel iets anders.

    Dat Sato naar RLL gaat is niet omdat Andretti voor Chevrolet zou kiezen maar juist omdat Andretti nog geen keuze had gemaakt. Sato wilde niet afwachten wat Andretti zou doen.
