Video: Scott Dixon test met aeroscreen

Viervoudig IndyCar-kampioen Scott Dixon had eerder deze week de eer om als eerste coureur met het aeroscreen te testen. De Nieuw-Zeelander kende een productieve dag op de Texas Motor Speedway en liet na afloop weten dat het rijden met de vorm van hoofdbescherming hem prima is bevallen.

Red Bull Racing testte vorig jaar ook een aantal keren met een aeroscreen, maar de Formule 1 heeft uiteindelijk gekozen voor de halo als vorm van hoofd bescherming. De halo is vanaf 2018 verplicht in de Formule 1, maar ook de Formule 2 zal er mee rijden. In onderstaande video neemt Scott Dixon je mee voor een ritje op de Texas Motor Speedway inclusief het aeroscreen op zijn bolide.

Als we dan uitgaan van het standpunt dat hoofdbescherming sowieso op de auto moet, dan is dit toch een veel elegantere oplossing dan die halo!? Het zicht lijkt mij zo ook weinig mis mee.
Ben alleen bang dat de fia zo'n autoritair instituut is, dat ze nu stug vast gaan houden aan hun geweldige ha... [Lees verder]

    Als we dan uitgaan van het standpunt dat hoofdbescherming sowieso op de auto moet, dan is dit toch een veel elegantere oplossing dan die halo!? Het zicht lijkt mij zo ook weinig mis mee.
    Ben alleen bang dat de fia zo'n autoritair instituut is, dat ze nu stug vast gaan houden aan hun geweldige halo...

      Vettel werd duizelig, omdat de ruit niet ontspiegeld was. Dus was gewoon dom. We rijden al tig jaren in auto's met ruiten, niemand wordt daar misselijk van.

    Dit lijkt mij ook nog veiliger dan de halo ! Als je het voorbeeld van Massa neemt met die veer in Hongarije die zal hier op wegketsten naar boven en met de halo moet hij uitgerekend op de halo komen of hij schiet er tussendoor

      Met de veer van Massa wel maar met de band bij Wilson? Die kwam toch vooral van boven en daar zit niks met ’t aeroscreen op de auto.

    Was er niet een Vettel die met een aeroscreen niet om kon gaan.
    Mede daardoor nu die kl.te halo.
    Vind deze oplossing super als hoofdprotectie dan toch moet.

      Nee komt omdat een halve gare het nodig vond om onder dubbel geel tijdens een soort van moesson hard door te trappen en eraf gleed.
      Tegen freak accident kun je je wapenen als er malloten de baan op mogen.

      Zekers, is een stuk minder lelijk dan dat andere lompe ding. En die visor camera mogen ze van mij wel per direct invoeren in de F1, gave beelden.

      Zou een halo (ook voor de opstapklassen) een stuk goedkopr zijn?
      Anders krijg ik bij het zien van de aeroscreen nog veel minder begrip voor de FIA met haar verfoeide halo.
