St Petersburg op 25 oktober seizoensfinale IndyCar

De IndyCar-organisatie heeft een nieuwe datum gevonden voor de uitgestelde race in de straten van St Petersburg. De stad in Florida is doorgaans de opening van het seizoen, maar nu zal het de rol van afsluiting van de jaargang vertolken. Het evenement in St Petersburg is verplaatst naar 25 oktober.

IndyCar-directeur Mark Miles: "De straten van St Petersburg vormen het ideale decor voor een met actie gevulde finale op een locatie die we als IndyCar na aan ons hart dragen. We zijn burgemeester Rick Kriseman, promotor Green Savoree en Firestone dan ook dankbaar voor hun inzet om samen met ons een nieuwe datum voor deze race te vinden. Het wordt een fantastisch raceweekend en ik weet zeker dat de IndyCar-coureurs deze datum reeds omcirkeld hebben in hun agenda."

De race in St Petersburg stond eigenlijk voor 15 maart op het programma. Het seizoen begint nu op 6 juni op de Texas Motor Speedway. De IndyCar-kalender voor 2020 ziet er nu als volgt uit:

6 juni - Texas Motor Speedway
21 juni - Road America
27 juni - Richmond Raceway
4 juli - Indianapolis (het gewone circuit)
12 juli - Toronto
17 & 18 juli - Iowa
9 augustus - Mid-Ohio
23 augustus - Indy 500
30 augustus - Gateway
13 september - Portland
19 & 20 september - Monterey
3 oktober - Indianapolis (het gewone circuit)
25 oktober - St Petersburg
