Toronto en Richmond vallen af, kalender op de schop

De IndyCar-organisatie dacht de herziene kalender voor het seizoen 2020 voor elkaar te hebben, maar kan onverwachts terug naar de tekentafel. De voor 12 juli gepland staande race in Toronto is door de Canadese stad geannuleerd. En ook de wedstrijd op de Richmond Raceway, voor 27 juni op het programma, dreigt alsnog af te vallen.

Voor de race in Toronto wordt nog naar een nieuwe datum gezocht. Het lijkt er nu op dat de seizoensopener op de Texas Motor Speedway op 6 juni de enige wedstrijd in de maand juni zal zijn. Road America verhuist waarschijnlijk naar het weekend waarin Toronto plaats had moeten vinden, in plaats van de oorspronkelijke datum van 21 juni.

Tevens is het plan om door het afvallen van andere races twee races op Road America te houden, een zogenaamde double-header. Ook Iowa en Laguna Seca organiseren komend seizoen twee wedstrijden per weekend.
