Hinchcliffe sleept fulltime zitje bij Andretti in de wacht

James Hinchcliffe heeft zich voor het IndyCar-seizoen 2021 verzekerd van een fulltime stoeltje bij Andretti Autosport. Voor dat team reed hij vorig jaar ook, zij het maar zes races. De Canadees kwam in 2020 alleen bij de Indy 500 en aan het einde van het seizoen als invaller voor Zach Veach in actie. Het was voor het eerst sinds zijn debuut in 2011 dat hij geen volledige jaargang draaide.

Nu keert Hinchcliffe dus terug met een fulltime plekje bij Andretti Autosport, het team waarvoor hij ook al van 2012 tot en met 2014 uitkwam. "Dit programma is iets waar we sinds het ondertekenen van het contract voor drie races in maart vorig jaar aan hebben gewerkt", begint de 34-jarige Canadees. "Een fulltime zitje was altijd het doel en het voelt geweldig om te weten dat ik weer op de grid zal staan."

"Bovendien ga ik aan de slag bij een fantastisch team, een team waarmee ik eerder mooie successen heb behaald en waar ik mooie herinneringen aan bewaar. Bij mijn sponsor Genesys is ook hard gewerkt om dit voor elkaar te boksen, dus ik verheug me erop om hun merk komend seizoen weer te vertegenwoordigen. We hebben een lange weg afgelegd, maar het echte werk begint nu. Ik kan niet wachten om weer de baan op te gaan en het seizoen 2021 aan te vangen."
