Rinus 'VeeKay' van Kalmthout heeft een speciale band met de Indianapolis Motor Speedway. De Ed Carpenter Racing-coureur boekte op de binnenbaan van de Brickyard zijn eerste overwinning in de IndyCar. Ook op de fameuze kombaan in Indianapolis schitterde de Nederlander meerdere malen in de kwalificatie voor de Indy500.

Op zaterdag 14 mei aanstaande staat de wedstrijd op het Grand Prix-gedeelte op het programma en VeeKay kleurt daarom speciaal zijn nummer #21-wagen oranje. Niet ter ere van zijn successen, maar vooral om aandacht te genereren voor kinderen uit Oeganda.

Voor de stichting Building Tomorrow lanceert VeeKay een speciale campagne 'Ride with Rinus'. Building Tomorrow is een international non-profitorganisatie, die alfabetisering en rekenvaardigheid van kinderen in Oeganda ondersteunt.

Dankzij de gulheid van een levenslange Building Tomorrow-donateur zal VeeKay op zaterdag 14 mei in de oranje kleuren van de stichting rondrijden. Building Tomorrow en Ed Carpenter Racing hebben de ‘Ride with Rinus’-campagne gelanceerd, waarbij donateurs voor 75 dollar (circa 67 euro) mee kunnen rijden: de naam van elke donateur wordt namelijk op de wagen van VeeKay geplaatst.

Donaties aan Building Tomorrow zullen ten goede komen aan haar ‘Roots to Rise’-programma, een fundamenteel leerinitiatief dat basisvaardigheden in letterkunde en rekenvaardigheid aanbiedt aan studenten op basis van hun leerniveau, in plaats van hun leeftijd.

Het doel van Ed Carpenter Racing en Building Tomorrow is om het aantal van 1500 namen op de wagen van VeeKay te zetten. Zo kunnen er 7500 Oegandese kinderen worden geholpen. Donaties voor ‘Ride with Rinus’ kunnen worden voldaan via onderstaande link.
