McLaren kiest voor bijzondere Triple Crown-kleurstellingen voor Indy 500

Volgende maand staat de iconische Indianapolis 500 weer op het programma. De race is onderdeel van de Triple Crown en het team van Arrow McLaren heeft daarom gekozen voor een zeer speciale kleurstelling. De drie wagens zullen namelijk alle drie één van de onderdelen van de Triple Crown vertegenwoordigen.

McLaren heeft namelijk alle drie de onderdelen van de Triple Crown gewonnen in het verleden, naast de Indy 500 gaat het hier ook om de Grand Prix van Monaco en de 24 uur van Le Mans. Pato O'Ward verschijnt volgende maand aan de start met een zwarte livery gebaseerd op de kleurstelling waarmee McLaren in 1995 Le Mans won. Felix Rosenqvist rijdt in de wagen in de kleuren waarmee het team in 1984 in Monaco won en de auto van Alexander Rossi is oranje en verwijs naar de Indy 500 zege uit 1974

    Leuk! Zeker leuk... maar als dit kan (zonder gezien te worden als tabaksreclame) maakt dit de weg voor Marlboro niet open om teams fia een dochter firm deze livery in alle kleuren te doen? Blauw wit bijvoorbeeld

    Prachtig. Een hommage aan het eigen roemruchte verleden. Een stuk beter dan die goedkope Gulf livery in Monaco 2021 die zo goed scoorde bij de dickridende fanboys zonder eigen mening. McLaren heeft genoeg historie om uit te putten. En +1 dat ze Senna voor de verandering een keertje achterwege hebben gelaten.

    Waarom nemen ze de livery van de McLaren-overwinning in 1984, terwijl ze in '85 (etc.) in dezelfde kleuren wel wonnen zonder de hulp van een Belg.

    Als eerbetoon en vanuit historisch besef kunnen ze bovendien beter in de livery van de Toleman-Hart uit 1984 op Monaco gaan rijden...

      Gezien je reactie vraag ik me af of je mijn post wel begrepen hebt @Clay. De overwinning van destijds McLaren-coureur Alain Prost stond nogal ter discussie, zelfs vandaag de dag nog bij sommigen/velen...

      Larry@ welke overwinning staat tegenwoordig nou niet ter discussie? Als onschuldige overwinningen zoals Singapore 08, Abu Dhabi 21, Silverstone 21 vandaag de dag ook al ter discussie worden gesteld... tja dan kan 84 Monaco niet achter blijven. :P

      Klopt @Tyla, "tegenwoordig", maar ik kan me nog goed herinneren hoe waanzinnig pissed off ik destijds was over de uitkomst, dat gevoel heb ik daarna niet meer in die mate gehad, ook niet bij de GP's die jij noemt.
      Waarschijnlijk omdat dergelijke situaties inmiddels (je wordt wat ouder en misschien wijzer...) minder verrassend waren...

      Trouwens, waarom je Abu Dhabi 21 ook noemt snap ik niet. Er was wel wat onvrede over de foute beslissing van de wedstrijdleiding na het afsnijden van een bocht door Hamilton in de eerste ronde, maar daar hoorde je na afloop niet eens zoveel meer over...

      Ja ik weet t, hoort er naar mijn mening ook niet in thuis, maar staat toch gek genoeg ter discussie. Iets met Latifi die zijn auto niet juist/helemaal niet heeft geparkeerd in de pitstraat. Onzin natuurlijk... gewoon netjes aan de kant gezet.

      Sommigen durven zelfs te beweren dat zoiets als "parkeren van een auto" enige invloed had op de raceuitslag. De fantasie bij sommigen hè?

      Ken wel een Laffite, Jacques Laffite, een Fransman die in de jaren '70 en '80 in de F1 reed, maar hij was waarschijnlijk in 2021 niet eens in Abu Dhabi aanwezig...
