Nashville vervangt Laguna Seca als seizoensfinale

De organisatoren van de Music City Grand Prix in de straten van Nashville en IndyCar Series hebben een nieuwe meerjarige overeenkomst gesloten. Het contract loopt af na de wedstrijd in Nashville aankomende zondag Volgens The Racer wordt de stratenwedstrijd de slotrace van 2024 en verdrijft Laguna Seca naar een plek eerder op de kalender.

Het parcours van Nashville gaat ook op de schop en krijgt het minste aantal bochten van de stratencircuits. "Het nieuwe circuit van 2,17 mijl en zeven bochten zal doorgaan over de iconische Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge en direct langs de Country Music Hall of Fame lopen. De baan zal door de wijk Honkytonk van de stad lopen, de thuisbasis van bars die eigendom zijn van de grootste namen in de countrymuziek", zei de IndyCar-organisatie.

Mark Miles, CEO van Penske Entertainment, is verheugd op de deal. "Nashville en het Music City Grand Prix-team staan klaar om een niet te missen, actievol evenement te organiseren dat de seizoensfinale meeneemt naar een nog hoger hoogtepunt op het wereldtoneel", zei Miles.

“De race van volgend jaar in Nashville wordt een geweldige viering van de meest felle en competitieve motorsport ter wereld, tegen de achtergrond van een innovatief en adembenemend podium met een van de belangrijkste wereldwijde uitgaanswijken ter wereld", voegde de CEO aan toe.

  Vond t altijd gaaf dat Laguna Seca vroeger een Motogp only baan was en de opstapklasses een weekend vrij hadden. Wanneer debutanten in de motogp dan om de baan werd gevraagd zag je de enthousiasme van de coureurs van "ja dit is het echte werk"
