Ten Voorde wint in Monaco in chaotische race

Larry ten Voorde is het seizoen in de Porsche Supercup sterk begonnen. De kampioen van 2020 pakte in het vorstendom van Monaco de zege. De Nederlander hield zijn hoofd koel in een wedstrijd vol chaos en puinhoop.

De start werd opgeschrikt door een grote crash. In Beau Rivage ging een Porsche dwars over de baan nadat de coureur in aanraking kwam met de vangrail. Conculega's konden hem niet ontwijken en er onstond een opstopping. De rode vlag werd door de wedstrijdleiding direct gezwaaid.

In de tweede bocht was het een parkeerplaats met Porsches, brokstukken en gelekte olie. Of dat laatste gevolgen gaat hebben voor de Formule 1, is afwachten. Nadat de hijskraan enkele gestrande wagens wegtakelde konden de vastzittende Porsches daarachter er weer door heen.

Na de herstart werd er in Monte Carlo volop gestreden met veel duw en trekwerk. Dat eindigde twee keer tranen. De eerste clash veroorzaakte een safety car. Het tweede incident gebeurde in de slotfase met twee Nederlanders bij de hairpin. Max van Splunteren tikte land -en teamgenoot Lucas Groeneveld in de rondte, maar de coureurs konden hun weg vervolgen.

Na 15 ronden volop actie en drama werd Ten Voorde als winnaar afgevlagd.
