Larry ten Voorde prolongeert titel dankzij P3 in Monza

Larry ten Voorde heeft voor de tweede maal op rij het kampioenschap in de Porsche Supercup gewonnen. De Nederlander had voldoende aan een derde plek doordat titelrivaal Jaxon Evans achter hem finishte op P4. De Nieuw-Zeelander kan met nog één race te gaan Ten Voorde niet meer inhalen in de tussenstand. De Turkse Ayhancan Guven won de wedstrijd in Monza voor rookie Dorian Boccolacci.

Ten Voorde is niet de eerste Nederlander die twee of meerdere keren de Porsche Supercup wist te winnen. Ook Jeroen Bleekemolen won deze series tweemaal, in 2008 en 2009, en Patrick Huisman won eind jaren '90 vier keer deze klasse en is recordhouder met de meeste titels achter zijn naam. René Rast, uitkomend in Formule E, en Michael Ammermüller wonnen beiden drie keer.

Zondag is de laatste race van het seizoen om 12.30 uur Nederlandse tijd.
