Porsche pakt voorlopige pole in Le Mans

Porsche was de sterkste in de eerste kwalificatiesessie voor de 24 uur van Le Mans gisterenavond. Neel Jani noteerde een tijd van 3:19.733 en daar kon niemand aan tippen. Porsche eiste ook de tweede plek voor zich op met een 3:20.203 voor de auto met startnummer 1.

Daarachter waren het de Toyota's op posities drie en vier, voor beide Audi's. Het verschil tussen de snelste Porsche en de langzaamste Audi bedroeg drie seconden. De auto's van Rebellion Racing gaven weer enkele seconden toe op de autofabrikanten in de LMP1-klasse.

In de LMP2-klasse was de wagen met startnummer 26, bemand door Roman Rusinov, Will Stevens en Rene Rast, de snelste met een 3:36.605, goed voor een negende plaats overall. De inschrijving met Ho-Pin Tung eindigde op de tiende plaats en was dus tweede in de LMP2-klasse.

Giedo van der Garde en Jeroen Bleekemolen waren terug te vinden op respectievelijk P20 en P26. Ford was het snelste in de GTE Pro-klasse. Vandaag staan nog twee kwalificatiesessies op het programma. De 24 uur van Le Mans start zaterdag om 15.00 uur.
