Gasly pakt pole position voor thuispubliek op Paul Ricard

Pierre Gasly heeft op Paul Ricard zijn eerste pole position ooit weten te veroveren in de Formule Renault 3.5-klasse. De Fransman troefde voor zijn thuispubliek kampioenschapsleider Carlos Sainz Jr. af. Beitske Visser start negentiende, Meindert van Buuren vertrekt vanaf de laatste rij.

Gasly sprong in de laatste minuut naar de top van de tijdenlijst, waarna een rode vlag-situatie veroorzaakt door Zoel Amberg ervoor zorgde dat de Fransman zijn pole position niet meer kon verliezen. Op dat moment waren onder andere Carlos Sainz Jr. en Sergey Sirotkin nog snel onderweg.

Achter Gasly en Sainz Jr. starten Sirotkin en Jaafar vanaf de tweede rij. Roberto Merhi en Matthieu Vaxiviere vertrekken vanaf plek vijf en zes, terwijl Marlon Stockinger als zevende start. Oliver Rowland, Norman Nato en Formule 3-coureur Esteban Ocon completeren de top tien.

De tweede race van het weekend op Paul Ricard start om 13.00 uur Nederlandse tijd.

Netjes van die Gasly. Is wel een titel favoriet voor volgend jaar denk ik mocht ie in deze klasse blijven. Ik verwacht dan een leuk gevecht met Quick Nick die zojuist weer een pole haalde in de FR 2.0
