Regalia in 2015 in actie voor Zeta Corse

Facu Regalia rijdt in 2015 in de Formule Renault 3.5-klasse. De Argentijn eindigde in 2013 als tweede in het Gp3-kampioenschap, achter Red Bull-coureur Daniil Kvyat. Afgelopen seizoen reed Regalia een aantal wedstrijden voor Hilmer Motorsport in de Gp2-klasse, maar zonder succes.

"Na zeven maanden hard werken, kan ik bevestigen dat ik zal deelnemen aan de World Series by Renault", aldus Regalia. "Het is een nieuw seizoen in Europa en het is fantastisch om deel te namen aan een opstapklasse naar de Formule 1 met Zeta Corse."

"Het is een kans en we zullen er alles aan doen om er een succes van te maken", vervolgt de Argentijn. "Rijders zoals Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Jaime Alguersuari en nu Carlos Sainz, een concurrent van mij in de GP3, hebben allemaal de overstap gemaakt naar de Formule 1 vanuit deze klasse."

Regalia zal komende week naar de thuisbasis van het team in Valencia reizen, ter voorbereiden op de eerste test in Jerez op 5 en 6 maart aanstaande. "Dit is een compleet nieuwe ervaring voor me, dus ik zal proberen om zoveel mogelijk uit de wintertests te halen. 2015 wordt een ontzettend belangrijk jaar voor me, het is zeker een cruciaal jaar."

In 2014 reed Roberto Merhi voor het team van Zeta Corse in de Formule Renault 3.5. Merhi eindigde na een sterk seizoen als derde in de strijd om het kampioenschap. Wie in 2015 naast Regalia plaatsneemt bij Zeta Corse, is nog niet bekend.

Weer een plekje minder voor Ocon. Het zou toch wel zonde zijn als hij niet bij een goed team terecht kan in de GP2 of WSR.

  Dat vind ik nu ook Maxkimi
  Ik pluis iedere dag alle sites uit in de hoop nieuws voor 2015 voor hem.
  Maar het blijft wachten en de plaatsjes worden schaarser.
  In de GP2 is niks degelijks meer over.
  En in de WS 3.5 zie ik enkel Fortec of Zeta Corse als goeie mogelijkheid.
  In de GP3 is er nog veel plaats maar dat zou geen stap omhoog zijn voor de F3 kampioen.

Het is idd heel apart hoe alle deuren juist DICHT gaan voor Ocon terwijl je juist zou verwachten dat ze open zouden staan. De GP2 bij DAMS schijnt te zijn afgeketst op budget, daarom klopte men bij Lynn aan. De DTM was ook al bijna in kannen en kruiken, maar nu kwam de marketing ertussen (ART wou Ocon samen met Charles Pic hebben, maar de marketingafdeling drukte Paffett en Auer door).

Gp2 zie ik niet meer gebeuren. Heb ergens op een franse site gelezen dat Ocon geen geld heeft om een stoeltje te kopen, WSR zou kunnen: Fortec heeft nog een stoeltje vrij en Zeta Corse ook. Pons en Comtec kun je vergeten, teveel geld vragen voor te weinig kansen op punten.
