Ammermuller vervangt Vettel bij Carlin Motorsport

Michael Ammermuller is de vervanger van Sebastien Vettel bij Carlin Motorsport en zal komend weekend op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps zijn debuut maken. Carlin Motorsport zocht nog naar een opvolger van de naar Scuderia Toro Rosso vertrokken Vettel en kwam uit bij zijn landgenoot Ammermuller. Die was zelf enkele weken geleden aan de kant gezet door zijn GP2-team ART Grand Prix.

Officieel omdat de Duitse coureur nog niet volledig hersteld is van een polsbreuk opgelopen tijdens het openingsweekend in Bahrein. Het team was echter ook niet tevreden over de prestaties van Ammermuller en zette voor de races op de Nürburgring Sebastien Buemi in de auto. Een terugkeer naar de GP2 lijkt met zijn aanstelling als World Series by Renault-coureur bij Carlin Motorsport ook van de baan.

Teambaas Trevor Carlin over het vertrek van Vettel: Natuurlijk zijn we heel trots dat Sebastian de rest van het jaar in de Formule 1 mag rijden. Hij heeft zichzelf bewezen bij ons team en ik weet zeker dat hij van toegevoegde waarde zal zijn voor Scuderia Toro Rosso. Wij van Carlin Motorsport vestigen hiermee onze naam als ideaal opleidingsinstituut voor de Formule 1, alleen jammer dat we een goede coureur als Sebastian al zo snel weer kwijt zijn.
