Buurman maakt indruk op Donington Park

Yelmer Buurman heeft zich van zijn beste kant laten zien bij de World Series by Renault-races op het circuit van Donington. De jonge Nederlander rijdt normaal gesproken in de Formule 3 Euroseries, maar mocht dit keer Richard Philippe vervangen bij Fortec Motorsport. Buurman eindigde knap twee keer in de punten, een keer als vijfde en een keer als vierde.

Voor de andere Nederlanders was het een minder succesvol weekend in Engeland. Giedo van der Garde eindigde twee keer ver buiten de punten. En ook Xavier Maassen scoorde niet. Hij vloog er in race 1 vanaf en werd veertiende in race 2.

Donington Park kreeg twee kersverse racewinnaars. Zowel Alvaro Barba als James Walker hadden nog niet eerder gezegevierd in de World Series by Renault. Podiumplekken waren er voor Guillaume Moreau, Marco Bonanomi, Julien Jousse en Bertrand Baguette.
