Enrique Bernoldi krijgt kans bij Rocketsports

Enrique Bernoldi komt dit jaar uit voor Rocketsports in de Champ Car-serie. De oud Formule 1-coureur reed vorig jaar nog in de Braziliaanse Stock Cars, maar keert nu weer terug naar Formulewagens. Bernoldi was onder andere teamgenoot van Jos Verstappen bij Arrows en stond ook enkele jaren bij Honda onder contract als testrijder.

Ik verheug me nu al op komend seizoen, vertelt de 29-jarige coureur. Ik wilde altijd al racen in Noord-Amerika en ik denk dat ik in de Champ Car goed tot mijn recht zal komen. De combinatie van stratencircuits en permanente circuits vind ik mooi en Rocketsports is bereid om me alles te leren over deze klasse. Ik heb twee jaar geleden al eens voor het team getest en ik ben zeer blij dat we een overeenkomst hebben bereikt.

Teambaas Paul Gentilozzi: Enrique heeft veel verstand van het rijden in Formuleautos en dat liet hij tijdens die test ook zien. Ik zie hem zeker als een potentiële racewinnaar. Het is goed dat we zo vroeg al een coureur hebben gecontracteerd en het zal zeker helpen dat hij tijdens het voorseizoen voor ons kan testen.
