Baumgartner in beeld bij Minardi Team USA

Zsolt Baumgartner is de nieuwste toevoeging aan de lijst kandidaten voor een racestoeltje bij het Champ Car-team van Paul Stoddart, Minardi Team USA. De Hongaar past goed in het rijtje van oud-coureurs van het Formule 1-team van Stoddart dat kans maakt op een zitje bij zijn Champ Car-team.

Jos Verstappen was lange tijd in beeld bij meerdere Champ Car-teams waaronder Minardi Team USA, maar zag op het laatste moment af van een avontuur in Amerika. Een andere Nederlander, Robert Doornbos, is dicht bij een overeenkomst met het team van de Australische teambaas. Beide coureurs reden in de Formule 1 al voor Minardi.

Zijn mogelijke teamgenoot wordt dus wellicht Baumgartner. Ook de 26-jarige Hongaar reed voor Minardi in de Formule 1. In 2004 reed hij alle Grands Prix en scoorde in Indianapolis een puntje door achtste te worden.
