Sergio Perez blij en trots met Grand Prix op eigen bodem

Force India-coureur Sergio Perez verheugt zich nu al op volgend seizoen. Dan krijgt de Mexicaan de gelegenheid om voor eigen publiek te racen, op voorwaarde dat hij in 2015 nog op de grid staat. De Grand Prix van Mexico keert na een afwezigheid van 22 jaar terug op de kalender.

Perez: "Ik ben trots om Mexicaan te zijn. De rentree van de Formule 1 naar ons land is een teken dat Mexico alles kan bewerkstelligen. Het is een geweldige mogelijkheid om ons land aan de wereld te laten zien en te tonen waartoe we in staat zijn."

Landgenoot Esteban Gutierrez kon zijn geluk ook niet op. "Wat een ongelooflijk verhaal! We hebben weer een Grand Prix in Mexico! Mijn dank gaat uit naar iedereen die deze droom realiteit heeft gemaakt", schreef de Sauber-rijder op Twitter.
