Coulthard winnaar van Race of Champions 2014

David Coulthard is het racen nog niet verleerd. De oud Formule 1-coureur bewees tijdens de Race of Champions 2014 op Barbados dat hij het nog steeds in de vingers heeft. De Schot won het evenement door in de finale Mercedes-reserve Pascal Wehrlein te verslaan.

Lotus-coureur Romain Grosjean, de titelverdediger, strandde reeds in de groepsfase, evenals Williams-testrijder Susie Wolff. Coulthard was in de halve finale te sterk voor Jamie Whincup, terwijl Wehrlein de finale bereikte ten koste van Europees Formule 3-kampioen Esteban Ocon. Ocon troefde Whincup wel af op weg naar het brons.

Op zaterdag was in de Nations Cup het goud voor Team Nordic, bestaande uit Tom Kristensen en Petter Solberg. Ze wonnen in de finale met 2-1 van Team Schotland, bestaande uit Coulthard en Wolff. Dane Skeete en Rhett Watson van Team Barbados verrasten voor eigen publiek met een plek in de halve finale.
