Haas presenteert nieuwe wagen op 21 februari in Barcelona

Het nieuwe Amerikaanse Formule 1-team Haas ligt op koers voor de eerste wintertest in februari. Het team onder leiding van de Amerikaan Gene Haas, maakt haar debuut in de koningsklasse en heeft hoge verwachtingen. Die komen mede doordat het chassis is ontworpen door het Italiaanse Dallara en Ferrari de motoren zal leveren.

Romain Grosjean en Esteban Gutierrez zullen de wagens gaan besturen, die op dit moment echter nog niet klaar zijn. Teambaas Gunter Steiner: "Er zijn nog 10 weken te gaan. Dat is niet veel, maar alle werkzaamheden verlopen volgens plan. Het ziet ernaar uit dat alles op tijd in orde komt, dus daar zijn we blij mee. Alle ontwerpen zijn klaar en ook goedgekeurd. De eerste wagen wordt in januari in elkaar gezet, waarna de crashtest verricht zal worden. Zoals het er nu naar uit ziet zal de wagen op 21 februari in Barcelona gepresenteerd worden."

Hoewel eerder deze week berichten naar buiten kwamen over een compleet gele kleurstelling voor de wagens, is dat volgens Steiner nog niet zeker: "We hebben nog geen besluit genomen over de kleuren, dat is denk ik ook heel persoonlijk. We geven onszelf tot de laatste minuut de tijd om van kleur te veranderen."

"Onze doelstelling voor komend seizoen blijft echter onveranderd. We willen kans maken op WK-punten en laten zien waar we de afgelopen twee jaar hard aan gewerkt hebben. Betrouwbaarheid is voor ons ook erg belangrijk dus we willen tonen geen grote problemen te hebben."

Die gaan plat op hun bek in Melbourne..heb er weinig vertrouwen in. Hun keuze voor Grosjean en zijn ervaring is wel een goede. Gaan ze nog veel aan hebben.

Ik ben echt heel benieuwd hoe hun debuutjaar zal zijn en ik gun ze ook zeker punten, maar persoonlijk denk ik dat er nét iets teveel Amerikaanse bravoure heerst. Over Haas zelf heb ik namelijk gemengde gevoelens. Hij kan een frisse wind zijn, maar hij komt op mij ook een beetje over alsof hij wel even zal laten zien hoe het moet. Wellicht prima instelling hoor, daar laat ik me niet over uit, maar er werkt bij dat team geen enkele echte topper op geen enkele afdeling. Ze mogen dan financieel gezond zijn, maar vooralsnog verwacht ik achterhoedegevechten. Ik laat me echter graag verrassen. Uitgaand van budget, coureurs en ontwerpers zou het iig niet mogelijk moeten zijn om direct punten te gaan pakken (naar huidige maatstaven). We gaan het zien. Wellicht is het qua attitude en team building niet verkeerd als het eerst niet zo lekker gaat om zich vervolgens te herpakken en met iets meer bescheidenheid te werken aan een echte doorbraak.

Ik heb een goed gevoel over Haas!

Maar dat had ik ook bij Honda.. en Caterham, en Manor.. ik ben benieuwd of net zo zal lopen, ik hoop van niet.

Acht, ook ik hoop dat het een blijvertje is maar reken er maar op dat ze lastig krijgen. Voorlopig aanhaken. Helemaal nieuw is zo lastig. De laatste fatsoenlijke blijver is dan toch........Jordan en via via via via dus Force India. Na dit team zijn er een paar gekomen maar allen weer gegaan. Let op: dit alles even uit het hoofd en verbeter me maar.

Ik zou het oude kleurtje geel van pennzoil oil nemen. En ja ik ben benieuwd waar ze staan met een Dallara. was toen ook geen suces.
