Gutierrez steeds meer op zijn gemak bij Haas F1

Esteban Gutierrez begint na een stroeve start van het seizoen steeds beter in zijn vel te steken. De Mexicaan keerde dit jaar bij Haas F1 Team terug in de Formule 1 na een jaar als testrijder bij Ferrari. In de eerste Grands Prix had hij moeite om teamgenoot Romain Grosjean bij te benen, maar in Monaco was Gutierrez de snellere van de twee.

Hij voelt zich steeds meer op zijn gemak. Gutierrez: "Des te beter we de auto leren kennen, des te comfortabeler ik me in de wagen ga voelen en des te meer vertrouwen ik in het pakket krijg. Elke keer dat we de baan op gaan krijg ik een beter idee over welke kant we op moeten gaan met de set-up. De start van het seizoen verliep moeizaam, maar we hebben nu wat consistentie gevonden."

"Daar kunnen en moeten we op voortborduren. Ik blijf pushen. Het team levert geweldig werk en leert ook steeds meer over de VF-16, waardoor we steeds efficiënter worden met het ontwikkelen van de juiste afstelling gedurende een raceweekend. We liggen op schema voor de resultaten die we voor ogen hebben, namelijk zoveel mogelijk punten scoren."

Gutierrez is na zes races in 2016 nog puntloos. Stalgenoot Grosjean staat op 22 punten.

Verklaar je nader? Hülkenberg heeft hem vierkant afgedroogd en dit jaar is Grosjean ook een pak beter. Wat voegt Gutierrez nu eigenlijk toe? In ieder geval geen punten tot nu toe.
