Sirotkin: "Weet niet of Williams goed zal gaan op Sochi Autodrom"

Sergey Sirotkin rijdt aankomend weekend op het Sochi Autodrom een thuisrace, maar de Rus is er echter onzeker over of hij een resultaat kan halen met zijn Williams. Monza en Singapore waren twee erg verschillende circuits en Sirotkin weet daarom niet wat hij kan verwachten in Rusland.

"Het is zo'n circuit waar het voor ons alle kanten op kan gaan. Dat geloof ik echt. Dus ik wil er eigenlijk niet met teveel verwachtingen heen gaan", zegt de Williams-coureur tegenover Racefans.net.

"Ik kan alleen maar zeggen dat ik in de kwalificatie voor iedere honderdste ga strijden en in de race voor iedere millimeter. Ik wil ervoor zorgen dat ik er het maximale uithaal. Wat dat gaat opleveren, kan ik nu nog niet zeggen. Maar ik ga alles geven in mijn thuisrace."

Bij Sirotkin hoeven we zeker niet aan grootspraak te denken, want in de vorige race in Singapore streed de Rus letterlijk om iedere millimeter. Zo had hij rondenlang een gevecht met Sergio Perez, die Sirotkin maar niet voorbij kwam en reed hij in de slotfase nog bijna Brendon Hartley in de bandenstapels. Hiervoor werd hij overigens wel bestraft.
