Marko: "Niki Lauda is eindelijk teruggekeerd naar huis"

Niki Lauda is teruggekeerd naar huis, na een lange periode aan revalidatie in het ziekenhuis. Dat nieuws meldt Helmut Marko. De Oostenrijker is de landgenoot en een goede vriend van Lauda.

De voorzitter van het Mercedes-team onderging begin augustus een longtransplantatie en miste zodoende de rest van het 2018-seizoen. Marko meldt nu echter dat het herstel heel erg goed gaat. Dat heeft de Oostenrijker en tevens adviseur van Red Bull Racing, verkondigd tegenover Servus TV.

"Na vijf maanden heeft Niki eindelijk het ziekenhuis en de revalidatiekliniek verlaten en hij is nu weer thuis. Al zijn organen werken en nu is het tijd om zijn kracht terug te laten keren. Ik ben er optimistisch over dat we hem in maart in Australië weer gaan zien."

Lauda was tot zijn longtransplantatie een vast gezicht in de paddock en op de grid. De Oostenrijker heeft dus echter niet van dichtbij kunnen meemaken dat zijn team voor het vijfde achtereenvolgende jaar kampioen is geworden bij de rijders en bij de constructeurs. Er is dus echter goede hoop dat hij er in 2019 vanaf het begin weer bij is.
