Britse beeldhouwer Paul Oz maakt bronzen beeld op ware grootte van Ayrton Senna

Paul Oz heeft een bronzen beeld op ware grootte van Ayrton Senna gepresenteerd. Het werk, gemaakt ter herdenking van van de dood van Senna, 25 jaar geleden, weegt 160 kilo.

Het beeld portretteert de Braziliaan in de cockpit tijdens het besturen van de McLaren tijdens de Grand Prix van België. Het bronzen werk beeldt het moment uit waarin Senna van Eau Rouge naar Radillon rijdt, waarbij de stijl van Oz maximaal wordt benut. Oz staat er om bekend om zich statische figuren zo veel mogelijk tot leven te brengen.

Vanzelfsprekend is de maker van het beeld erg trots op zijn werk: "Eindelijk is deze dag aangebroken. Het is een resultaat van acht maanden revolutionair werk en ik ben super blij dat ik mijn werk aan de internationale media kan presenteren." Oz, wilde met dit beeld een eerbetoon geven aan de Braziliaan:"Vandaag laat ik een echt bronzen beeld zien ter herdenking van de 25e verjaardag van het Ayrton Senna Institute, dit is mijn eerbetoon aan de grootste coureur die de Formule 1 ooit heeft gehad," voegde Oz er nog aan toe.

"In het volgende jaar zullen we een speciale editie maken voor het Ayrton Senna Institute van drie sculpturen op ware grootte voor elk van de drie titels en 41 sculpturen van elk van zijn overwinningen. Er zijn ook 106 versies in acrylverf. Ik doneer twee van de sculpturen aan het Ayrton Senna Insutute, deze kunnen geveild worden. De opbrengst van de veilig zal gaan naar de kinderen in Brazilië. Dit doe ik omdat Ayrton in 1994 de Ayrton Senna Foundation heeft opgericht, een organisatie die zich bezighoud met alles wat er voor kinderen gedaan kan worden in Brazilië," aldus Paul Oz.
