Sauber doet geen uitspraken over inzetbaarheid Perez in Montreal

Het gaat naar omstandigheden goed met Sergio Perez, maar de Mexicaan moest wel een tweede nacht ter observatie in het ziekenhuis blijven en ondergaat vandaag nog een scan. De Sauber-coureur crashte in Q3 op zaterdag hard bij het aanremmen voor de chicane na de tunnel.

Het is nog onduidelijk of de 21-jarige coureur over minder dan twee weken aan de start kan verschijnen in Canada. Sauber-directeur Monisha Kaltenborn deelde aan de BBC mede: Het is te vroeg om daar iets over te zeggen. Wij hebben alle vertrouwen, maar het hangt natuurlijk af van de beslissingen van de doktoren van de FIA.

Teambaas Peter Sauber voegde toe: Ik hoop dat we in Montreal met onze gebruikelijke line-up kunnen starten. Sauber beschikt over een reservecoureur in de persoon van Esteban Gutierrez, regerend GP3-kampioen en tegenwoordig actief in de GP2.
