Marko denkt dat Mercedes met volle motorsterkte reed in VT1

De vrije trainingen in Mexico gaven de wereld weer genoeg stof tot nadenken. In de eerste vrije training was het Bottas in zijn Mercedes die de tijdenlijst aanvoerde terwijl de tweede vrije training overduidelijk werd gedomineerd door Red Bull Racing en vooral kopman Max Verstappen.

Vlak voor de tweede vrije training verscheen Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko nog eventjes snel voor de camera's van het Oostenrijkse ServusTV. De adviseur liet hier weer eventjes weten klaar te zijn met favorietenrollen: "De zogenaamde Red Bull of Mercedes-banen bestaan niet meer."

Ook had Marko wel een reden voor de snelheid van Mercedes in de eerste vrije training. Volgens de Oostenrijker had de Duitse formatie weer op volle motorsterkte rondgereden. Het is niet duidelijk of dat ook in de tweede training het geval was. Wat wel duidelijk was is het feit dat de Mercedessen in VT2 duidelijk terrein te kort kwamen.

    Maxico is gelukig nog steeds een Red Bull baantje. We kunnen Zondagavond eindelijk weer eens lekkah rustagh achterover zitten na al die races met hartkloppingen, en sprintjes naar de koelkast, om niks te moeten missen.

      Charles was in FP1 lekker aan het oefenen met achteruit inparkeren.
      Zo te zien moet Ferrari nog wel wat aan de parkeersensoren werken. :)

      Jong maar wel al oude seniele praat.

      Of je nu fan Marko bent of niet. Je kan toch niet anders dan respect voor die man hebben. Hij is er altijd, neemt moeilijke beslissingen. Vaak tegen de mainstream in en ze pakken erg goed uit. En dat allemaal op zijn leeftijd.

    Marko had hier je comment gelezen van VT1 :)

    Ieder team luistert bij iedere sessie naar wat de andere motoren doen (naast het circuit en van de on bpard beelden vnl geluiden). Dat wordt in het hoofdkwartier geanalyseerd ´on the fly´ en terug gekoppeld naar het circuit.

    Niks van vermoeden dus bij Marko maar een bevestiging dat ze dit hebben opgemerkt. Gelijk een logische strategische beslissing om dat even aan de pers (lees Mercedes) mee te delen. Mercedes moet agressief tewerk gaan om een kans te maken en RB houdt hiermee de vinger aan de pols.

    In VT1 was Hamilton 4 seconden langzamer dan de ingenomen poletijd van Max in 2019….maar Mercedes heeft met vol vermogen gereden….natuurlijk Helmut.
